So I have 12 weeks until I go, and 10 weeks remaining at work. Eeeeek! The days are certainly getting closer. I would be fibbing if I dont state I am papping it. Who wouldn't? ... Blacksmith's Arms had a great menu and delicious food. It was established in the late 1700's by a curate's wife who used the income to supplement her husband's 20 pound yearly stipend and help support their 13 children. The ceiling of every room in the pub was covered with hanging mugs.

Across the pub was St Mary's Church at Lastingham.

... Pub and Hotel. This pub is about 300 years old and the only one in England named Queen Catherine. It was of keen interest when William and Catherine were married because one day Catherine will be Queen and the pub and hotel will gain notoriety.

They were offering a "Pensioner's Special" so we all took advantage of it and were even treated to a pot of tea after the meal. Sometimes it pays to be old!
