... Rouge with a coffee. This chap called Neil, who was also having a coffee, was happy to tell us all about Durham and its history, the bridge we were beside is called Framwellgate Bridge, and it's Durham's oldest, and...it's a Grade 1 listed building! We went back to the Hotel to fetch the car, then off we go for a cuppa and chat with Pat. ...

... of diversity and beauty and peace. Driving along, things whiz by and I understand that with no connection to the creation comes no understanding of it and little care about it follows. We have two feet but how little we use them, yet when we do what beautiful places we can go to, what wonderful people we can meet and what peace we can find. Standing still for 15 minutes in the drizzle we felt cold but walking ...

Second to last day C2C! The stay at the Lion Inn was disappointing. Maybe I expected too much. It had the low beamed ceilings, rough stoned walls, old fireplaces and close almost claustrophobic atmosphere of a really ancient pub. But it also had a poker machine, bland stodgy food, impersonal service and big chain commercialism about it. There were so many people packed into the place. There was nothing welcoming about it. We have stayed at far warmer ...

We had a leisurely 15 km walk today. Conditions were cloudy to begin with but brightened over the morning as the cloud broke up into beautiful balls of cotton. We started with a climb up Round Hill, the penultimate C2C climb. Once we reached the summit we again had beautiful views across to the east and back at yesterday's path over the 3 hills. The rest of the walk was along an easy plateau. Since entering the North Yorkshire Moors the the quality of the paths ...
