Thanksgiving

Also dann Prost und an Guadn!

Getting into the swing of things

... But we snuck out early to catch the bus/ferry/bus all the way over to Grouse mountain- one of 3 mountains overlooking the city on the North shore of Vancovuer. The Grouse Grind is a famous uphill trail that's renound for being super steep and a bit of a ritual every Vancouverite has to go through (I think). Now Rebekka is a seasoned Alps hiker, while I exercise rarely, so while I needed to stop every 10 mins for a breather, Rebekka wasn't even out of ...

Apparently there is food available for tourists during the day, but we should still expect to experience crazy traffic right before sunset as everyone rushes around the city to be with their ...

entry 2: Vancouver

... BC day on Monday which means long weekend so of course there are LOTS of tourists. Maybe it wasn’t the best timing to come to Vancouver. Oh well, it has still been really good.

I was thinking about going out tonight but I am just so tired, ended up going to the cinema again so I could sit down and just relax. Now I’m going to go off to bed and tomorrow flying to Calgary

... hope to find a VW parts store. Eve continues to heat up and we limp into at a Walmart parking lot where she spews antifreeze. We buy more antifreeze, refill the reservoir and continue our search for a replacement coolant tank cap which Dom thinks is causing the problem. We find one, put it in place and hope the issue is solved. We have a good day and sail smoothly through Seattle, ahead of where we thought we might be today. We make it ...

Vancouver - The Beginning

... came into Vancouver 3 days later got some meds. It was discovered I would require the removal of all four of my wisdom teeth. So I waited on the meds till I was healed and then living at my gramps place on the Sunshine Coast I saw the local dentist. He took my wisdom one at a time. I spent two weeks at gramps, getting to know his blender and couch on a personal basis. I recovered in no time and it was time for the road. Gramps drove me down to the local ferry to get ...

Exploring Vancouver

... interesting, but it had one nice exhibition of "birds of prey", in which we got to take a close look on some raptors - you'll see in the pictures. Another nice thing about the top of this mountain was that it had snow on the one hand, but also a "feeling of summer" on the other hand - I hope that the pictures manage to catch it. However, the more interesting events in that day occurred on the way to the mountain. The first one illustrates again ...

Animals in Canada!

... fish. We ended up in an enormous room featuring different saltwater habitats. It was hard to decide what to see first. The first tank was filled with billowy sea anemones and multi-colored sea urchins. The tank at the end of the room was drawing a crowd. It was completely black inside but was filled with tiny white sharks. It was hard to see them since they were rapidly swimming to and fro in the dark. They would swim off into the murky depths of the tank where you could vaguely ...

The sun was high in the sky on wednesday so a girl from the hostel and i took the ferry across to Granville Island where there is an amazing food market. and i found my beloved chocoloate covered gummi bears, they are by far my new favourite! lol. After lunch we walked along to Kitsilano beach where we soaked up the last of the rays before heading back across to Downtown for a bit of shopping on Robson Street. x
