... police brigade drove right past us. I got a picture of the Presidents car, and tried to be discreet. The last thing I wanted was to end up like the Fort Zeelandia guys. The weather in Suriname was a lot of heat and humidity with the occasional down pour that was pretty intense. I think I changed my clothes 3 times in the 1 day that we were there. But it just didn't matter because the people were great, the food was amazing and for a rustic carribean ...

... we were half way up to the top we had to push the boat to the top, over and back down on the other side. The rest of the journey was peaceful but adventurous. Our trip had a great start.

Finally having arrived we hung up our hammocks. I finally learned how to tie a knot which hangs a hammock. After a few practices i managed to do it on my own. Locals laughed at us because it took us a while to learn the knots. There was no1 else in our shelter, just us 2. Later a couple ...

... seated in the plane the pilot turned around to us to ask that we put on the seat-belts. He continued, saying the flight would be about one and one-half hours long. The caveat was that we would be traveling through a lot of rain. We were to fly along the coast at an altitude of 7,50 feet.

Sure enough, on two occasions, we flew through some very heavy rains. We found ourselves in the clouds so we could see ...
