De landingsbaan ligt direct naast het strand en we zien mensen op het strand, vlak onder ons, staan kijken en met ons mee rennen. ... Nederlandse deel van St. Maarten. (De andere helft is Frans, met Marigot als hoofdstad). Aan het eind van de middag zeilen we de grote baai aan de zuidkant van het eiland binnen. Er liggen een paar cruiseschepen, wat vissersboten en een stuk of 10 zeilboten. Er is een wit strand met veel strandbedden en een boulevard met hotels en restaurants. De muziek komt ons al tegemoet. ... helemaal geen zin om te gaan en hadden inmiddels ook afgesproken om met Bert en Gerdijanne in het weekend naar St. Kitts te varen. Zij nodigen ons daarop uit een paar dagen bij hun te komen logeren. Al een dag eerder dan voorspeld worden we op de Netjer helemaal door elkaar geschud. Tijd om de tassen in te pakken! Saba was like, the best place I've ever been, in my life. It's a volcanic island and we stayed at El Momo Cottages, which I would HIGHLY recommend. We walked up an old volcano in a rainforest, and met a bunch of interesting people at the cottage. Also, we walked around and picked up some black sand, then we mostly just hung out in the hammock with more Carib beer.

... do not need anything that could have a problem because taking care of things from the other side of the world can be difficult. Living on the island is not all bad. It's a Caribbean island and the temps are perfect (80's by day and 70's at night). The island is owned by two countries. The side we live on (Sint. Surviving the shortest runway in the world (after another visit to St Maartin as the Statia Saba flight was cancelled), we snorkelled (saw sharks and turtles), climbed to the top of Mount Scenery which was really muddy and walked down to town by torch light for a drink in the swinging doors pub.

Because of the long trip we arrive very late (15.00) to the island. We took a cab ($8 pp each way) to Maho beach, as I wanted to see the planes landing, but we just saw 1 and two small ones, had a swim and went back to the ship. The traffic was chaotic and took us about 35' to go there and 90' to come back. Otherwise the island seem worthy to spend much more time.
