Travel Blogs from Kuala Lumpur
It was a whirlwind trip so this blog will have to cover the whole trip. I arrived on Monday morning and flew out on Thursday night. We had three days of meetings for the Global Services division at my company. It was great to meet all of the leaders from around the world.
I had to present on the first day which …
... close to the elephants, and we got to feed and stroke them. Pretty cool.
As Monday was our last full day in Ubud, we did some shopping and mooched around a bit. Again we were met by locals shouting "taxi, cheap cheap", "massage?", "fan? knife?", and even when we said "no, thank you" we were asked "taxi tomorrow maybe?". Jeff wanted to reply "actually, now you mentioned it, we were looking to get a taxi at 2:17pm tomorrow. And also while you're at it, please could ...
... To get my monies worth I made the pint last 3 hours until the band finished before I headed home at 0230. Got my head down for a few hours as I had to be up at 0800 to catch the bus to Cameron Highlands at 0930. The hostel was pretty good for 30 ringgit a night (£6) clean tidy dorms, a power socket next to each bed, helpful and friendly staff. when I go back to KL I will stay there again if I need to stay the night. ...
After 4 nights in KL we are on the plane to Kota Kinabalu in Borneo and its my turn to write a blog. KL was quality it is absolutely huge with sky scrapers everywhere you look, we took advantage of the 2 free bus shuttles to get around. Highlights were the gardens in front of the Petronas Towers and the areas around central Market. We also went up to Batu caves - is a religious place of importance but can't remember which religion. Well worth visiting ...

The single room we stayed in could easily accomodate 3. The rooms are cleaned everyday. The staff are quite congenial. The room is on the 18th floor and the view is fabulous all times of the day. Monorail, KLM Kommuter trains, flyovers, cars ...Most importantly since it is centrally located, it was easy to visit most of the tourist attractions using public transport. Plus the shopping mall in lower floors can keep you happy just staying here :)
