Christmas Panto'

... we have had since we arrived. Lots of laughs and reduced to tears in the end. I think the 2 kids may have also enjoyed it.
The Villain from Coronation Street and the star, Aladdin, from Hollyoaks. A pleasure for the ladies in the audience.

Great night.

End of term. 4 months in the UK

... I can do without 30+ weeks when I am working. Now at the start of winter days are getting colder, it is dark before we finish work but the rain has been minimal. There is promise of worse weather to come. So far so good.

Food

Baked beans, mushy peas and puddings. The English love them all. Even offered “Pudding Wine” in a restaurant!

It has been a real advantage to have lunches supplied. Geoff has been having ...

Day 2 - The Reamer

How could anything be worse than the Ball Breaker? How? And yet it was. Damn the kilometres of bog, damn the no bacon butty truck on the highway, damn the twisty part where you go around curve after curve after curve and don’t see anything ahead of you but CURVE. Then damn the “ ...

Boulder Paths

"Over the boulder, down the boulder, **** the boulder, **** THE BOULDER!!!"

There are some points where the paths are naturally made of boulders or large rocks, fine I'm on a mountain I get it. However one day we hit some hard going with a path covered in boulders which, after about twenty minutes, I noticed there weren’t any boulders OFF the path, only on it. A neat line of ******, leg-twisting boulders was ...

Day 1 of the trip

Well the day has finally arrived! The alarm was set for 6.00am but we were both awake before it went off. After a quick breakfast we were on the bike heading for a rendevous at Colin's house in Halling in the rain!

After a quick cup of tea, Leigh up turned on his Triumph Tiger and it was time to set off for the Marsden to meet Lyndsey & David & guess what it ...

Bye Bye Brum / Madness in Manchester

... Saturday - utter madness with the crowds especially in good old Primark. I have such a love/hate relationship with that store - not only is it cheap, its often so cheap its ridiculous. The quality if the stuff can be ok and great for the price, but the amount of people that are in there, the clothes on the floor and the queues all make shopping in there such a traumatic experience that I always wonder is it worth the hassle just to snap up ...

London to Stonehenge

We woke up at 6:15am to get ready to meet our tour to Stonehenge and Bath at Kings Cross at 7:55am. We barely made it. We had to run for our tour bus! I hadn't even eaten breakfast yet. Anyways, we made our way around London picking up people along the way and then we finally departed towards Stonehenge, after stopping quickly to pick up some snacks for my grumbling stomach. We got to Stonehenge at 11:30am and it was amazing. Even though they are just a circle of stones to ...

Home!! No No No!!!

... realised that we have been so lucky with what we did do and see. Plus we had to admit the fact that you just can't do everything. We could have made the mistake of really going for it and seeing far more than we did do. But these places would have only been in small doses and we wouldn't have really seen the 'real' place, being in such a rush. We have to admit, we were certainly playing on the lazy side on occasions and stayed in some places far longer ...

Glasgow

Taggie and I liked the look of Glasgow so much we drove through it twice - once through it on the wrong way to Carlisle, and once when we figured out we were going the wrong way and turned around. (We won't talk about us turning around in Stewartown and ending up going in exactly the same wrong direction we'd been going in.)

Canterbury Tales and Northern Moonkays

... but can only be harmed while drunk. Meet a backpacker with a cast or a bandage or a prosthetic and the story will undoubtedly begin, "I was drunk..."

Getting out of Canterbury and up to Manchester, though, turned out to be my biggest (mis)adventure involving transportation since SE Asia, or Eastern Europe at the very least. When Helen and I got back to her room after our night out I tried to order my ticket from London to Manchester through Mega Bus. For ...
