Portland, Maine, United States jimcabay... our travels with you through this blog and hope it goes successfully. One of our audiences will be Sophie and Isabelle's classes...."hello fellow classmates/teachers". We hope to bring to this blog our personal experiences and reactions as well as some history and educational value. The girls would also like to challenge the classes with periodic questions about our destination to see if the classes can come up with the answers.
Portland, Maine, United States solingchina... a ride on an authentic old time train around the city's harbor and see many of the extraordinary sites that have stood for decades.
Most of the city is compact and perfectly walkable. There is so much to see and do that you will never feel bored or disappointed. One thing for sure, you definitely will not go hungry or run out of places to shop! The Old Port District is the historic side of Portland, and it is a wonderful area reminiscent of America's humble beginnings.
Portland, Maine, United States katstravel... strangely close to. They're quite guarded at first, but once they open up, they're full of fascinating opinions and good ideas.

Thought of the Day

In England, we have 'TK Maxx'. In America, they have 'TJ Maxx'. Why?

For reference

I have driven in, or through, 11 states so far.
I was tempted to stay in the, 'Mic Mac Motel', the other night. I didn't.
South Portland, Maine, United States holliday... chris said BOOOOOO!) and so we hopped aboard shore for the last time. boothsbay is a bit more touristy than the other cute towns we had been in, but we settled in for one last meal of burgers at the only place still open (it was about 8 or 9 pm). it was perfect.

chris and i woke up at 4:30 am for a pick up to Rockland Airport. we took a tiny plane to Logan Airport and then we were off to Vegas!

thanks again tim and eileen!!!
Boothbay Harbor, Maine, United States gocarygo... in cold snow for the majority of the year i'd consider moving there.

for lunch we sailed up to a seafood restaurant called Cook's. we had a slight buoy mishap, that sent me running around the small bay to save the buoy but it was also the first exercise i'd had in days so that was good.

lunch at Cook's was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. we had steam-ahs and fresh maine lobstah in maine. simple boiled lobstah. it was awesome.
Portland, Maine, United States gocarygo... Right!!

After lunch, Mel continued to do more laundry and Neil proceeded to take the bus apart in order to fit the insulation that SDCVW had omitted to put back in. Saco, Maine, United States thebusmonkeys... it was inevitable that a fire would break out of control, raging for 10 days and ravaging the town and the island until half of the eastern side of the island had been destroyed, including a whooping 10,000 acres of Acadia National Park. Evidently the town rebuilt itself, thankfully in the same style of that which had been lost. This is everything which I thought Maine would be. Still it was time to move on and see what else Maine had to offer us ...
Freeport, Maine, United States pumpkinqueen... We were stuffed...and we shared a plate designed for one! Back on the road...to find arcadia national park! Wasn't too much further. Had to get our national park passes first...then we went to find the campsite. It was another cool national park one...quiet and pretty. We went off to explore the scenic drive...excpet Neil dcided at this point we had no petrol so had to go hunting miles for that first. Managed to do a little of the drive before it ...
