Our last day in the Lake District to tour. Periods of clouds, rain, clearing, and more rain. This summer has been exceptionally rainy, even for this area. Drove up into the hills to Buttermere Lake and next valley. Drove along the shores of more lakes and then back on highway to Castlerigg Stone Circle, another sight protected by the National Trust …

... services are privately owned and they even have their own farm shop, and you know how much we like our food!! The hotel is tucked away out the back with great views of the hills, and upon checking in we discovered a duck pond directly underneath our window, complete with quacking ducks, and guess what, we were in room 22!! (one for all the bingo fans - that's you Uncy xx).

Anyway after a couple of beers, a very, very nice sandwich for us, and ...

... it was time to figure out some dinner. We were starting to find the most places require reservations, which is very frustrating when you walk into a restaurant and see several open tables and the place is booked. We ended up finding a place called Nandos which I think is a chain, but the food was awesome! The place really only served chicken and vegetarian meals but it was welcomed. You chose the level of spice and then how you wanted your meal prepared ...

... had let up so the visibility was better and we could actually see across the lake. We drove up and down a couple of high points to try and get a good view of the lake. We stopped at a hilltop pull off to see the area. The parking lots were full of slush which made our walking limited, especially after Logan fell trying to get a good view of the lake. Even with soaking wet jeans, he was able to score a couple of pretty awesome photos of the hill side ...
