... the candle store, but it wasn't just candles -- they had lots of decorative items as well. We were also impressed with the layout of the store and the way the merchandise was presented. There were lots of interesting things in areas that were set up to look like rooms (kitchen, dining room, etc.). We spent a while browsing, but I wasn't interested in buying anything. Another building featured food, teas, Christmas items and toys. After wandering around the stores ...

    ... the museum grounds.

After our museum stop, we stopped for lunch at a small Greek restaurant where we had great gyros and way too many French fries, and then continued on to Windsor Locks, CT, our destination for the day. We were staying there so we could visit with our boys' 93 year old grandfather, George, and Judy, who live in Enfield, CT. We had a really nice visit and took them out to ...

... got out of the airport, we decided to rely on the GPS (christened Barb) to get us to Branford, on the coast of Long Island Sound. Apparently Barb thought it was better to completely skirt New York via the west, north and then east instead of getting on the I95 which would have been more direct but maybe slower (? through southern parts of New York). But hey, we just followed along and eventually arrived at our B+B about 4pm. So we've seen the suburbs of outer New York and know a ...

Elinor Weds: Survival of the Fittest (sorry Nanny)

A travel blog entry by pantseatflyers on Jun 24, 2015

We are off to see my sister, Elinor Watts, wed the man, the myth, the larper, Dan ummmm, the man? I'm extremely happy for my sister and excited that she has finally found "the one." (Side note: if you would have asked me 10 years ago who Elinor would eventually marry I would have said, "someone not possessing a penis." She did major in theatre after all).
The wedding will take place in Deep River, CT and will be surrounded by the most joyful bunch ...
