We started the day by going to Waitomo Glowworm Cave, the only commercial attraction I was willing to pay and did not regret it. It is amazing to be on the boat in total darkness and enjoy the glow-worm lights. But you cannot take pictures there so I have to borrow one.
From Waitomo to Te Anga ...
... careful as you can scold your feet (which is what Brian did!). It's great but as the tide starts to come in it fills your pool with cold water and you have to move on and dig another. We had a really enjoyable hour and shared our pool with Karen and Phil who were from Derby.

... out onto a crowded beach. Well, crowded compared to the near deserted beaches we experienced elsewhere in NZ. As we were contemplating where we could set up to be as far away from others as possible, we saw the archway that is the central attraction of the beach. The ocean drilled through the rock to create the archway. It is 10-15m high and 20m long. When the tide is in, such as it was when we were there, the ocean comes just inside the north end of the archway. ...

I slept very well as I had a three-bed dorm to myself - I had a freshly picked peach from the owners tree for breakfast and some recommendations of where to go for my day. ... of the water. The size of the Sun was incredible, I have never seen it that promonate. This big ball of energy, slowly warming our earth. I got to be one of the first ones to see the sun today. Pretty magical to say the least. You can take pictures, but they are never the same as the true beauty you witness.
