... the folks dropping crab lines off the end of the pier and of course having a Mr Whippy ice cream, before getting the slow train back. After a spot of shopping in Southend we went home to fire up the BBQ hoping it wouldn't rain and managed to get everything cooked and eaten with only clouds overhead. ... group assisted the Americans in liberating Mindoro from the Japanese. The view in photos looks amazing and I want to go there around 5pm and watch the sun go down because the combination of bancas lying on the beach and the houses on stilts will make a great silhouette.

... it's not even worth us trying to get down to see the New Years in down there, in the pouring rain, with the banana flavoured confetti and strawberry smelling fireworks. We make the call to watch movies, music and the fireworks display in the comfort of Baz's home, letting the children stay up as long as they like. Mac makes it to 10.10pm, and OUT for the count. Julia 11.20, but we wake her to watch the fireworks on TV. We toast the New Years, HAPPY 2014!!!! A really lovely evening ...
