    Friday 11 Sep 15 – Xiamen

    Arrived in Xiamen (~Zowmin) right on time at 7am to a rather smoggy morning – but fine. Had to get moving early as we had to be ready to leave the ship for our tour of Xiamen at 7am, so breakfast was at 6am and a 5:30am wakeup. The port is about 2 hours up a river estuary and this is done at slow speed, particularly given the size of the ship.

    ... my breath away. How many years ago had I read about the pink dolphins in China (called Chinese White Dolphins) and longed to see them - I don't know, but I had wanted to see them for so long. I fumbled around for my binoculars to see them closer up and it was really, really special. Although my hands were shaking so it was quite hard to hold the binoculars!     ... big things, little things and long things. Don't ask me! I haven't yet found pictures of some of them on the Internet in order to work out what we have eaten. Most have been delicious. Only one was tasteless and had the texture of rubber. We found a beautiful little beach, and so spent a while lying on the sand. Good white sand.     ... wander around by ourselves, we decided to split up and go our own ways shopping, again, so many shops. so many people!! We bought only a few items here, had no lunch here but when we met up, we had a sundae from McDonalds !! .
    Time was up, head count done once again, our group all here, unlike some groups that were missing people!! Back through customs, back through check in and yes, straight to the bar!! After a full on day, we needed it!
