Strong currents, sharks, huge spiders and snakes!

... nice, a lot nicer than my last hostel and the three of us got to share a 8 bed dorm just to ourselves. Needless to say it was the best night sleep i've had since I've been here. With the added bonus of chris falling asleep aty about half 8 it meant I got an early night too!

Wednesday we moved again to a new hostel called the Old Swan Barracks. And guess what it was an old army barracks building. Moved in with chris vicki and two scottish guys we've made friends ...

Salam dari Perth part II

... sign, no nothing except kawasan perumahan kampung. Nak tanya pon takde orang. Tiba-tiba Allah nak tolong, lalulah satu auntie sambl jogging gamaknya, dan kami memang terpaksa jugak hentikan dia daripada berlari dan tanya kat mana nak naik bas. Dia cakap, further up and then you'll see a blue shelter, but you just missed the last bus. So it's gonna be about 45 minutes. Tak kisahlah 45 minit pon janji ada bas yang ditunggu. Gile ko, cam takde orang sangat. Memang gelisah aku. So ...

GOODBYE AUSTRALIA!!!!!

... airport on the 5th. We'll spend some time with the uncles before heading off to do some exploring of our own. I'll save all the sentimental stuff for another blog. To us, it's just the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. Anyway, all the photos were starting to look the bloody same. Time for a change of scenery. Katie & Phill have officially started their journey home. Just don't go blowing up any balloons just yet.....we may be some time. Bye Bye Oz (sob) XXX

Kangeroo Capers

... The following morning, however, was glorious, and although it was Friday 13th, there were adventures to be had. We explored the northern tip of Peron Peninsula, i.e. Cape Peron and Skipjack Point. Aboriginal people have lived here in the Malgana language for about 25,000 years. The first written descriptions and images of Malgana lives were documented by French explorers early in the 19th ...

Bags of fun

... of the zip. He said to leave it with him and he'd try and think of a way to fix it as he said he couldn't fix it with the machine. Thankfully when he came about the next day he said that a stopgap could be done, that of re sewing it by hand. Got the bag back an hour or two later and he thankfully didn't charge me too much. Now I hope I holds till I get home. It would be nice to unpack as I haven't done so since I lived in Sydney all ...

It rains in Perth too!

... at Karrinup. I drove and Frank navigated and we had a very enjoyable trip, first through the Perth suburbs, then the outer suburbs, in newly cleared bush areas, and finally through lush bush, full of gum trees and wildlife. Even here there were signs of recent bush fires but thankfully none had developed into the sort of disastrous blazes that had been seen recently in Victoria. We reached York at about 1.00 and visited the ...

and we're back where it all began!

... protruding yellow moon! anyway, that was the pinnacles. we came, we saw, we drove around the desert, sean took many, many photos, we were forced to stop in line behind several other campervans and motor homes, while their drivers also got out to take yet more photos, and we drove back to camp, where we wandered down to the seafront, to watch the boats bob on the water and the seagulls scavenge food from the picnic tables down by the water. the next morning we head out to drive the ...

Mission Accomplished !!

... We spent many days enjoying the beach at Scarborough this past summer and autumn! Rick took the opportunity to do his impression of Aussie tennis superstar Lleyton Hewitt's "Come On"! Rick has become too Australian! Now we continue our journey by flying to Hong Kong only to connect with our flight to Bangkok where we hope to enjoy the sights and culture of Thailand! Stay Tuned! Cheers, Rick & Elsie!

A Midwinter Day's Reality !

... DownUnder" originated from? These waves can be heard very distinctly in the evening from our apartment. This past week, we experienced some of the coolest temperatures that winter could produce here! The morning temp's got as low as 1C! Brrrrr! Subsequently, these low temps forced Rick to abandon his shorts and wear long pants for his morning outing to the gym ...
