Land's End and St Michael's Mount

... to Land's End, the south-western most point of mainland England, and on the way back to the holiday house we stopped at Mousehole (what a great name!) and Truro, which are both great little seaside towns with lots of narrow roads and heaps of character.

Back again...

... just outside of the campground so we capitulated to the overpriced rubbish being sold in the onsite mini-market...awful doughy pizzas were best we could do :(
Next we needed to wash our clothes so we took our stuff to the onsite Laundry and nearly fell over when we worked our it would cost over £14 to wash and dry our stuff. Not going to happen! The laundromat in town must ...

We made it off the island just in time... we had to take our shoes off and wade accross the causeway... this is probably the closest I will get Kim to going into the Atlantic in the North hemisphere.

Next stop was the Lizard peninsular, the guide book said if you made the effort to go here then you would be rewarded. Unfortunately it was very similar to the rest of the coastline we had seen over the previous days so we were ...

Cream by Post - Tour of Penwith

So we headed south out of St Ives toward Lands End.

Our First stop was the derelict engine house of Botallack Mine clinging to the side of a cliff. the setting was spectacular!!

After walking around the cliff tops we continued on to Sennen Cove another pretty costal village. Just up the road was the infamous Land's End. It may be the most southerly point on the mainland but it just seems to ooze tackyness... we didn't even get out of the ...

Tour of Penwith the Cornish Peninsular - St Ives

We spent the morning wandering around St Ives.

It is a beautiful village full of art gallaries and narrow streets.

All the walking around made us hungry.

How could I pass up the opportunity for a hearty Beef and Stilton Pasty.

Kim equally splurged on Cornish Cream Scones and coffee ...

Running uphill is not so fun...

... holidays.

Time to continue our tour south, so we drive down to St Ives - a lovley harbour village. We splurge out on our first real Caravan Park.

After hooking up to the electricity we stuck a bottle of bubbles in the fridge. Then head out for a run around the town. Our caravan park is situated on a headland ontop of a hill overlooking the village. Great for the view but quite steep getting back from town. Down is ofcuorse always ...

Surfs Up Dude!!

... to fill the holes in our stomaches we decide that Newquay is the best bet.

We arrive at about 10am and the find a spot with views from the south to north of Fistral beach. The tides just starting to come in and the waves are head high without a breath of wind... bliss!!!

I can't get into my wetsuit quick ...

A wedding to start things off

... Church in Lelant, with a brilliant reception in the gardens at Lanyon.

The location gave some inspiration too, with that corner of the country having seen plenty of travellers in its time. Uny (who founded the church), Ia (who founded St Ives), and Justus (after whom St. Just is named) all travelled there. We won ...

Last caravan holiday

... do a scrappage deal on the old 106 and buy a motorhome.
Hyundai i10 was the way we went with the car. Decision being made based upon price and mileage to the gallon and comparing it to the Kia (slightly cheaper) it was far more professionally finished and the Panda was the only other real contender but we already have one on the driveway and although I cant put my finger on it I just dont like it. It seems to be a bit of a charachterless box on ballbearings ...

The day I supplemented a seagull's diet

... quite the matinee performance. Doctors suspended from the skies and all of that. We then crawled down the narrow cliff path ourselves (suddenly understanding how someone had come to grief there...they don't seem to believe in handrails here!)to the gorgeous beach. Yes, that's right kids, not all English beaches are ugly, grey, pebblelined and grim. The water was bright blue, the sand was a sandy colour and the water was...ok, it wasn't exactly ...
