Let me start off by saying that I am a Hilton Honors Silver VIP, and usually stay in Hilton Brand Hotels 5-10 times a year, and other brands another 5-10 times a year.
$305/Night plus tax. Golf Course view room
The rooms are large, and simply beautiful. The beds are Westin's Heavenly brand, and are to die for. There is a large wall unit with a TV, and large closet. There is a desk with a fax machine, and high speed internet access.
The bathrooms are huge with top of the line Kohler fixtures, and also feature a standard toilet and bidet.
There is a huge balcony, with 2 chairs and a table, and plently of room to spare.
The Service was what you should expect from a 5 diamond property. Everyone was attentive to your needs, and would try and do anything to go out of their way to meet your needs.
The location is perfect, the Fort Lauderdale airport is a 10-15 minute drive, and Miami is about a 25 minute drive. There is a huge upscale mall (Adventura) about 5 minutes away.
There is also a free shuttle that leaves about every 30 minutes to go to the Westin Diplomat towers (on the ocean)
I will definately stay here again.
Romantic and Beautiful Hotel
This Hotel is a beautiful and romantic hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone not overly interested on staying directly on the beach. The views overlook the golf course green. The staff at the hotel was top quality. The dining experience was romantic and delicious. This hotel is defiantly a return location for me.
Very nice Westin...free shuttle to the Diplomat Beachfront Hotel
Marble baths & floors, super clean with very little room for allergins, the windows OPEN if needed, and the staff is super. Small hotel with a lot of plusses.
This is the Country Club (in Hallandale) part of the Westin Diplomat Hotel on the beach in Hollywood (free bus shuttle between both...boat shuttle to the Diplomat Yacht Club (lets go fishing!) directly across Diplomat Parkway from the Country Club.
Of course, the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi (----) does make a stop here a few days a week to take visitors to the Miami area and back. (Charge). (But not the opposite direction-ie to Ft Laud via boat...takes too long)
Golf, Spas, Pools, Tennis, Boating, convention center, nice (but IMO overpriced) restaurants.
Main negative is the erosion of the beach in front of the beachfront hotel. I remember Hollywoods promise prior to the development of the new Diplomat Hotel that they would help with the beach. Seems they forgot. But the pool in the beach hotel covers two levels. YOu can see swimmers beneath you as you swim on the top level. Beach is available next door to the resort, on the Westin Condo property they are currently developing. When done, you'll also be able to rent a 2 bed 2 bath ocean view & intracoastal views.
Prices in restaurant too high. Starwood very fair with pricing for Military & Gov rates direct from their website. If re-opened, walk over to Maneros (of Conn.) for a great dinner...fairly priced across Hallandale Beach Blvd from the Wal Mart. (Also good is Flannigans on the corner of rt 1 across from Tony Romas and Gulfstream Race Track (About one mile away)
I checked into the Diplomat Hotel with my yorkie under my arm since I was advised by reservations that they were indeed a dog friendly hotel. I was told that I was to hide my dog for the entire weekend that I was spending at their facility. As terriers are prone to do, my dog barked during the night. This caused the front desk to remove my dog from my room while I was out of the room. I was asked to leave the hotel by seven o'clock the next morning because of my sevn pund dog. I am stilltrying to get the refund that was promised to me.
Very nice, quiet, loads of healthy activities!!
Stayed here on the weekend of May 20, 2005. I travel for business and stay in hotels approx. 100+ nights a year. As a platinum Starwood member we were upgraded to a golf course view and provided drink coupons (2 per night) and a continental breakfast coupon (1 per night). After check-in they also brought up a fruit and cheese plate amenity.
The rooms was very nice, modern and clean - the marble bathroom, two sinks, separate shower, and separate bath were first class and hands down one of the nicest I've seen in my travels. The balcony was small, but nice enough to sit at the chairs and have a drink or breakfast.
We used many of the Club's facilities and enjoyed them all:
Fitness Center - quiet, clean, and modern, full set-up of weight training and aerobic machines
Tennis Courts - clay courts and they have demo rackets and balls to rent at $20 per hour for two rackets and balls. It was slow when we played and they didn't charge us - nice!
Golf - Free range balls and rental clubs include in the daily service fee. Great facility.
Dining - room service was prompt and the breakfast was good. Had lunch at the Links Grill - some good healthy choices even though a bit pricey.
Pool - Nice, classy and not crowded. The service was very prompt. We were greeted with towels and a pitcher of lemonn water when we arrived at the pool.
The weekend rate of $200 was fair for what we received. Parking was $18 a night, service fee of $16 a night.
Two small cons - We were unable to secure a late check-out - front desk was adamant and housekeeping was basically standing at our door at the requisite noon checkout. Second, we left a daytimer behind and the maid threw it out - or so we were told. I guess we should be more careful next time!
Overall, a great break from the beach mob scene. Very relaxing, quiet, enjoyable, but not a great place for kids.
Relaxtion to its finest
I just stayed here with my wife for a little getaway. If you are looking for a resort with very few people, quiet atmosphere and a little peace and quiet then this is the resort for you. Wherever we went - the pool, restaurant, golf, lobby - there were only a few people there at a time.
The rooms are beautiful and getting a golf course view is must. The spa is great and offers everything (expensive though). I played the golf course though they wanted $200 for a round which I thought was nuts. Nice course with good facilities but not worth $200. The course was in great condition and offered a good challenge to a 16 handicap.
They only have 1 restaurant on the premises with a bar attached to it. It is great to sit outside and look at the course while you eat.
Not much to do in Hallandale but the beach is close, Miami is near and Ft. Lauderdale is near.
I would definetely recommend staying here and if you want more action and life around you then stay at the main Diplomat on the coast.
A great vacation getaway
We just returned from 5 days at the Diplomat Country Club and we had a great time. Service was terrific (they greeted us by name when we walked in the front door), food was great, rooms were very nice with luxurious baths.....golf course was well manicured with lots of water and we enjoyed the unlimited use of the driving range and putting green. Spa was beautiful..and very well appointed....only complaints might be that the Spa services were a bit overpriced for what you received ($140 for a 50 minute massage inc gratuity and the same for a standard facial) but we enjoyed them nonetheless.....and the hot tub at the main pool was broken as was the one in the men's spa locker room (but I am sure they will be fixed soon) It was a terrific place to get away from it all..very very private and relaxing with great places to eat both at the Country Club,The Westin and surrounding area. This place was so quiet on two days my husband and I were the only people at the pool. If you want a romantic , quiet getaway...this is the place to go.
I love this property. The service is great. The rooms are beautiful. The spa is fabulous. Guests get to use the spa facilities free of charge including the fitness center, spa pool, steam room, etc. The spa has free water with lemon slices, herbal teas and fresh fruit. You can lounge around by the pool all day. It is definitely a quiet place. Not great for kids. But if you want to relax, play some tennis or golf, or just get pampered, the Diplomat is the place to stay. The Westin Diplomat nearby has access to the amenities at the Country Club for a fee. Country Club guests can also take the free shuttle to the Westin for other restaurants and the beach.
WOW Loved it
I just have to say that the Diplomat Country club has the best service I ever had in a hotel. The spa was incredible... it was like a dream. Thanks to the staff Chris, Jennifer and everyone else who made this possible. Links grill was awsome and the facilities for golf and tennis were GREAT! I just have good things to share with friends and family about this experience.

We ate in the Main Dining Room for lunch and sat at a huge table, introductions were made and the champagne flowed. Rich was sitting next to a man and I knew he was on Cruise Critics. Come to find out he and I had "talked" a bit. He owns an S2000 as well so Rich and Jerry had a great conversation.
... checking on our room again and finally heading up. We then just laid low and watched some TV for the afternoon. I skyped with Mum and Dad before heading down to the hotel restaurant for dinner. We didn't feel like going very far from the room. We ate and then grabbed some gelato to bring back up to the room before heading to bed soon after. A beautiful lazy day. We are off to New York tomorrow, pretty ...
I instantly relaxed as the plane landed in Miami. I was totally ready for beach and sea fun. However, this relaxation was quickly eradicated when I realised that Miami is really not well signposted or easy to get around. I had to get a metro and then a bus and then another bus (due to the fact that I missed my stop) before I finally arrived at the hostel. The hostel was so cute with free pool in an outside common area that was surrounded by bamboo. It felt ...
... chit-chatting about this and that. He told me he is working on a video project in which he interviews passengers about Miami. He revealed a crude light setup attached tonthe back of the front passenger's headrest. When we arrived at the Miami International Airport, I agreed to be interviewed, Mark pulled out his handheld video camera and we proceeded. I introduced myself as Ian, and explained that I am an urban survival enthusiast from Minneapolis, here in Florida ...
Last day at sea and today was literally just sailing back to land. I couldn't help but be secretly relieved because as much as I love disney and the disney cruise - sea sickness sucks!!!! Seriously the feeling of nausea and constant swaying is too much for me. So today Ken and I leisurely roamed the ship. We paid a visit to the gift shop to get some souvenirs and I got a Christmas ornament for our first tree together once we are married and move in to our own place :) We then ...
