We left Katoomba after breakfast this morning and started making our way back towards Sydney. On the way, we stopped at the Featherdale Wildlife Park and the also the Koala Park. Both are on the outskirts of Sydney and we got free admission to them because of the SeeSydney card. The FWP was AWESOME!! You walk around and you can pet and feed kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabys and emus. You we also got to pet the koalas, wombats, and a peacock (as it was running away). This place also had the Tasma...
Sydney, Australia big_red_truckToday was an early morning...much to Jacqui's dismay. We had to be a block over by 7:45 to catch a bus for our tour this morning. We got to ride a luxury coach around Sydney and into North Sydney and Manly. Once again, this was a freebie for us(Hooray!). The driver stopped a couple of different places so we could get good photos of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Sydney Harbour, and Manly Beach. The bus stopped in Manly for people to go and have tea and walk around. So Jacqui and I decided t...
Sydney, Australia big_red_truckLast night Jacqui and I stayed up late....til 5:30 this morning. So we weren't moving real quick to get up. And the bed here is really really comfortable. So we didn't really get out the door until a little after noon. We headed off to Darling Harbour to go to Sydney Wildlife World. I think we were spoiled by the Featherdale Wildlife Park, because I was thoroughly unimpressed with SWW. You weren't allowed to go in and pet the 'roos and wallabys and wombats. And they wanted to charge us $20 to...
Sydney, Australia big_red_truckAnd when I say a lot, I mean it. We started off the day with a Bridgeclimb on the Sydney Harbor Bridge. But first, we had to speed walk from the Circular Quay train station to the bridge...which is about a 1/2 mile. Then the Bridgeclimb itself takes you up the equivalent of a 40 floor building. I think they said it was over 2000 stairs up and down. There are only two photos from the bridgeclimb. We weren't allowed to take our camera up for safety reasons(you walk right above the road deck) bu...
Sydney, Australia big_red_truckThe day didn't start off so bad over by the hotel. It was only cloudy, no rain. But Jacqui checked the weather report and we figured to go ahead and take our raincoats. Man, that was a good decision. From the time we stepped off the train at Circular Quay, to the time we got back to the hotel that night, it was raining. We still had a good time, even with the rain, but it was nowhere near as fun as it would've been without the rain. We couldn't reschedule the activities of the day because of ...
Sydney, Australia big_red_truckToday was another rainy, miserable day. I think it was raining harder today than yesterday. That didn't stop me from going on a jetboat tour of the harbor though. My scheduled departure on the jetboat wasn't until 11:40, so first we went to the Museum of Sydney. Its got a little bit of the history of Australia, and a really good exhibit on the flying boats of Australia. That was the best part of the museum. And the only really memorable part. Then I made it down to the Circular Quay wharfs to...
Sydney, Australia big_red_truckso, the last stop in australia - sydney. now technically we stayed in kings cross which we had heard was happy to share the same reputation as it´s london counterpart. clearly, however, this was made up by someone who´s never been anywhere worse than kelty. kings cross is this piddly little bit of street with some bars and sex shops on it, it wasn´t scary or particularly dodgy in the slightest. admittedly the old woman who seemed to be giving a lift to the local drug dealer on what seemed to ...
