Batam-Jakarta
Batam-Jakarta
We left Batam fairly late 1pm, it wasn't really for our benefit, and it was just the ferry left at 3 pm
It was taxis all the way to the ferry port, some 18 Km away, for a change there was no haggling or problems with the fare
The only thing I could find of interest in Batam was a bridge and as it was over 5 Km away, I didn't bother to seek it out
We got to a large blue hanger type thing and just went in, bags searched as usual, but really a waste ...
"Bruce comes from Jakarta" so said the locals
A morning walk started just before 7am along the beach but in the other or northerly direction this time.
Besides me, just after sunrise were out and about the early morning beach cleaners, walkers, joggers, surfers, fishermen, crew dismantling a stage, security guards at the resort beach ...
Home is where the backpack is
... for improvement.
The second point of improvement of today is the color of my clothes. Even khaki will get damn dirty when it has rained in Jakarta (the city in which floating dust/dirt is the least of your worries). The hiking boots up until now have proven adequate, not as warm as I expected and slippery (?! please refer to the above point for this one people).
Ok this is it for now I guess, now trying to munch my ayam manwich :)
