A slight diversion

... are in the Montrose/Arbroath/Carnoustie metropolis.

Why has Lou-Anne not updated from Munich? Maybe following Lucys advice about beer und soft men?

By the way, what is with the German men and their mullets. I haven't see hair that flamboyant since my brother in law pitched up at the Binnies wedding (circa early 90s) looking like a Bay City Rollers tribute band.

Back to London

... to see the sun rise over the Irish Sea...but I think i would have appreciated the sleep more!

It was off the boat at Liverpool, where I had 3 1/2 hours to get to the bus station. It took me about 45 minutes to get there (including a stop for a cornish pasty for breakfast) but i was so knackered that I couldn't be ***** looking around, so I just killed the time in the bus station. 5 1/2 hours on the bus, then about 50 minutes on the tube and I was back home!

Sightseeing around the southern part of the island

... me for a lap of the TT circuit...and in doing so made me realise how mad some of the riders really are! Most of the 37.73 miles of track were good condition roads, but there are some parts where there are some pretty hefty bumps...which felt pretty hefty at around 30mph, so who knows what it must feel like on a bike at race speed! Whilst there were some safety measures in place, like padding around some of the light poles, and the odd bank of hay bales, there are ...

Watching racing around Douglas

... big teams had huge trucks with awnings off the sides, and the teams were made up of about as many mechanics and other people as you'd see for touring car teams.

While walking around I saw a few of the bigger names there, such as John McGuinness (the most successful current rider), Guy Martin, Bruce Anstey (a New Zealander who I think has 6 or 7 wins to his name), Steve Plater and former World Superbike rider Aaron Slight.

It was back down to Bray Hill for the start of the ...

Over to Ramsey for my first day of racing.

... quite a sight! The nine planes did some formation flying then some stunts (for want of a better term...but that's really what they are) in smaller groups. It's hard to desribe what it's like seeing them, but it was certainly very impressive!

In the evening Chris and I went down to the Braddan Bridge grandstand and got some good shots of the riders leaning right over through the corners.
Dy bannee diu from the Isle of Man!

... That evening we went down to some pubs near the waterfront where I tried some of the local brew, O'kells. Considering I normally drink lager, this was pretty good. It was a good evening out, and Chris and Sam were very kind and gave me dinner and bought me some beers too.

Eventually I hit the hay at about 1:30, and I was asleep before my head hit the pillow as I was that knackered.
A bleak winter's evening in Douglas

... check out http://www.ballaafrica.org.uk/ for more details) and we're going to Danville for two weeks, working with an orphanage and a primary school. After this period, I plan to take up work full time, raise as much money as I can until Christmas time, when I plan to take my girlfriend to Greece for a week. Then over the following months, I hope to travel, return to work and repeat as much as possible. So far I have; e ...

Isle of Man - my new home away from home

... ride, but I met a very friendly Manx girl. When I finally arrived in Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man, Katie's mom came to pick me up and drove me to Katie's house, wher eI had a cup of tea and waited for my friend to return from work. It was so good to see her again after four years! In our first strange mind-reading moment, we decided to have fajitas and wine for dinner, and ended up talking and catching up for hours! When we woke up to rain the next ...

The Isle of Man

Home Sweet Home

... sufficiently mollified by a boozy lunch treated me by my lovely trolley dolly friend Phil that I peacefully slept on the journey up to Heysham. But it is really marvellous to be home, my mother had purchased probably the entire contents of Marks and Spencers, most of which I've consumed by now...oops! Well after 2 months of no pork and limited alcohol eating a pack of 50 mini cocktail sausages and one (or maybe two, hmmm) bottles of wine can entirely be justified. No?
