... myself kayaked around 3 of them. We were lucky as it was the only day while we were there that wasn't really windy so kayaking was good fun. That night I had my first decent homemade meal. Steak and mash potatoes. First time I've ever cooked steaks on a BBQ (or ever) but they were pretty delicious if I say so myself. And I do. I'm not really in Auckland just yet, just bored in Shanghai airport waiting for my flight, but I wanted the map above to show that I'm a' cummin' home!
Thought I'd share with you my impressions of the last 11 days, bearing in mind I have yet to see China outside of the 2 cities I visited.
So here goes:-
Shanghai is the largest proper city by population in the world, and it looks like it!
There are no birds in Shanghai (or Xi'an for that matter)
... Street (on which our hotel was situated) it was clear that we had chosen a rowdy part of the city to stay, particularly on a friday night.

VILE!!! before heading back to our hotel, we went to McD's where i ordered a cheese burger without meat - okay this made EVERYONE laugh! they thought i was strange for paying to eat a burger filled with cheese ketchup and gurkins! its not my fault i don't like BEEF! lol It was time to say bye to the north island the next morning and move on to exploring the south island. ..
