Amsterdam in this part of the city is old and quite frankly dirty. Even at 6 am in the morning as we boarded our bus to go to the flower market, the street is littered with rubbish and cigarette butts. Further out we have discovered there are lots of apartments all about 5 story high and street after street of them. ...
... overheard our anticipation to explore the city. I assume they were awe-stricken to see real, living Americans, and their chuckles were really gasps. Amsterdam is beautiful. At least the parts we saw were beautiful. Every street brought more character and really seemed to have its own story to tell. We of course could not care less about that part, and immediately struck out to find either the Heineken brewery or the Red Light District. More to come on the latter later. ...
It's the day before my departure to New Zealand! I am very excited.
I did have to say goodbye to my friends today.. I'll miss them:( But I'll keep in touch with everyone via Facebook and this blogging site.
I'm going to bed now, tomorrow the last pickings and then I will leave to Schiphol with mom, dad, Marte and ...
... on board restaurants with a great steak.
The ship is not busy at all and so everywhere is nice and quiet. A quick look outside in the freezing cold, a wee dram in one of the lounges and then back to my cabin to do my blog and sleep.
Tomorrow's plans are to make it to Luxembourg and spend the night there and the next day head for Chur right in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
And that kind of concludes my first day of this winter ...
