... Apples were espaliered and took up all the available land - right down to the side of the road. Reminiscent of Bilpin and yet so different. Afterwards we stopped at Merano with its great ornate brewery called Forst. (We had a coffee!) The Passo Di Stelvio was a highlight - a fabulous route of tight hairpin turns. There happened to be a cycling marathon at the same time today. We don't understand how they can ...

If the awesome sleep experienced was anything to go by, then
the previous day’s walk was definitely worthwhile.

After a light breakfast we walked across to Champfer where
we collected two bicycles from Stef. From there we set off on a cycle tour
towards the town of La Punt via St. Moritz. The trip can be done through the
    forest and ...

So the warmup walk over, my tour guides, Stef and Corinne,
decided that a somewhat more challenging walk would be in order. So we jumped
onto a bus and headed out to a spot on the Julier Pass. From here we headed

which lies at an altitude of 2984 meters. The wind was screaming and it was
trying to rain. However the rain was turning to ice and we nearly ...

Camper sleeping always takes some getting used to. Altitude
doesn’t help either. Fortunately I was so tired that it didn’t matter.

We woke up to an overcast and cold morning and after a quick
breakfast Corinne and Stef decided that a warm up walk would be in order. The
definition of a warm up walk being a 14km walk in the mountains. I must say
    however that it was ...

So finally the time has come to set off for Switzerland to undertake
a tour to determine the place of my future home. Our plan is to tour
Switzerland for a few weeks in a camper, with a view to finding a place to buy
a house and settle for our retirement.

My good friend, Nigel Simmonds kindly agreed to drop me off
at King Shaka International airport and after a three hour wait I boarded ...
