... to the station, I get the sudden urge to relieve myself. So I do the only thing a man does, find a side alley and a tree. Only as soon as I find it, and am about to let it go I get a tap on the shoulder. Its a security guard telling me to put it away and zip up. Not 10 seconds later, two cops walk past. And come and talk to me. Something along the lines of 'Sir, I didn't see you do anything, but if we did it would be an 80 pound fine'. I'm gobsmacked, mainly due ...
Kentish Town, England, United Kingdom trentb... a very sick few students, but it was really interesting. It brought up a lot of important issues about identity and colonialism and the kinds of legacy we leave and can inadvertently return to. The Stafford loan presentation communicated clearly the irritation that others feel when dealing with the government, just as we do. They spent 15,000 dollars on an audit report demanded by the US government. When they [the accountants] used the date: 15 July ...
London, England, United Kingdom mr.bernier... Café, where we all have toasted ciabatta with various fillings. The food in there was delicious and we all really enjoyed it, it totally hit the spot. We make our way over to the pier and get straight onto the last boat which takes us back to Tower, we jump off and hail a cab to take us back to Roy and Sues. The cab driver was something else!!! We've all been in a lot of cabs in London in our time, but in this one, we actually feared for our lives - Roy, as usual ...
Finsbury Park, United Kingdom travelmonster... which they live, with |STephen, saw some very typical English stlye houses and a canal. The area where they live is very nice, although its not far from some more run down sort of areas. Its also right on the edge of London, so there are fields etc. quite close. Had my first English pint (well, shandy) at the local pub and going to another for tea tonight. Heading into London tomorrow which I'm excited about! Steph
London, United Kingdom, United Kingdom darcygirlnzGearing up for the start... The countdown is really on now. We're leaving London at 8pm on Friday night to drive to Dover and then to start the long drive across France to Le Grand Bornand. Pitching tent at La Clusaz before hopping in the car and finding a vantage point on Col de Colombiere to welcome the Tour onto the first 1st category climb of the Tour de France. We'll then soak up the atmosphere of Le ...
London, United Kingdom lincolnsydneyHello from London. Got in last night with no problems, had time for a pint at the local before turning in. Today we toured the Tower of London, I did the London Eye and we saw Othello at the Globe Theatre. Tomorrow we're seeing Equus and touring St. Paul's Cathedral. More later. The two pints I just had are catching up with me.
London, United Kingdom txredheadJulia, I got your message...legged it over to the branch on Carrer de Rosello as that's where my B & B is located a few blocks away. Muxart has some really nice shoes - I picked up a pair for the summer in classic black and white of course. These days, am definitely buying to last more than just a season. Then had to make it to the ...
London, United Kingdom big8little... since 1995, accompanied by my parents, im finding heathrow quite daunting. I am however lucky enough to be travelling with a friend, but unfortunately he is on a different airline, in a different terminal, his flight is delayed, and his mobile battery has run out. Im feeling pretty much on my own!
London Heathrow, United Kingdom flicatyLondon!!! It's always SO good to be home after traveling, no matter how awesome the trip is. London, United Kingdom maryberryWell I leave 10 weeks tomorrow. I thought it was 8 weeks but it appears I can't count. But maybe that's a good thing cos I'm slightly less panicky now and have an extra 2 weeks to attempt to prepare, even though I really don't know where I'm going or what I'm doing yet. All I know so far is I leave London on 7th November and arrive in Bangkok the next day, and from then on, anything ...
