... the Coromandel where we did a lovely walk along the coast and hills for some fantastic views of beaches and sheep. Unfortunately the road doesn’t connect across the top of the peninsula, so we had to return the way we came to Colville. More edge-of-the-cliff driving!

... about the lengths Peter Jackson goes to for perfection, and even got to have a drink in the green dragon pub! Amazing. After Hobbiton, we set off to Hamilton! ... Hobbit Holes were inhabited. All the details that make the movie a treat for the eyes and tell the story in a complete way. Most everything on the set was authentic, except the oak tree that grew above Bilbo's hole at Bag End. This tree is made of steel and polystyrene. And some 40,000 leaves had to be hand tied. ... rolling hills. I'm pretty sure now that on a few occasions, we could of saved time had we just stuck on the main highways and then backtracked slightly rather then taking the most "direct and quickest route". Even though our speeds were kept down, I still pushed our little turbo diesel as much as I could around corners and steep hills.
