... as is
our way we set off on what turned out to be a five hour walk to the top of a
mountain and back.

The first four kilometers was up what I will call the 37
corner path. The route was along an old road that wound its way through 37

About one hour from Strasbourg I saw what turned out to be a truck/lorry stop so we joined the few that was there and spent the night listening to the coming and going of more truckies all night. At the top of that I had to move to a 20 foot bridge with a steel grate bottom and two cables along the sides. At the end of that was another vertical ladder and ...

Wednesday 27th

Our last day in Chamonix. Woke up as saw the sun shining – YAY. Went out and opened the curtains and sure enough patchy cloud but quite a nice day (not as clear as our first day, but there is still time).

Looked at the time – Holy &$%#. Its 8 o'clock. Sam woke up just after that, but apparently had been awake earlier and saw me still asleep. Oh well, better get ...

... they were swinging through the trees making a racket and seemingly having a good time.

We probably spent about an hour there in total, and it was a unique experience to be able to get right up alongside them, although we were not allowed to touch them – Holding out a piece of popcorn for them to take was as close as we got to that.

Enjoyed out Tarte aux pomme and a ham and cheese roll under the canopy of trees at a picnic ...
