... would otherwise have to pay for. after though he said we should pay 100 baht to feed the elephant bananas (they were selling the bananas for 50 baht for about 6) i then saw he had a pocket full of baht and imagined he had a mini scam going to earn himself some extra cash but we didnt mind. And, while the ride was interesting, feeding them bananas after wards was even ...
Phuket, Thailand jo_in_thailandHi folks,
Arrived in Phuket early because a crew member had to be evacuated to hospital with appendicitis. We were woken up by the ship shuddering and Raymond was watching out his window and said we came in too fast and they had to throw all the thrusters out to stop us hitting the wharf. The captain that we had from Sydney left at Dubai and this other one doesn't seem to park the ship as well.
After breakfast we met up with Pam and Bob, Les and Irene and Jan and Don and ...
... on the boat. I even passed on the opportunity to go back in the water for a 2nd dive because of the poor conditions. Eventually we were back on the dock and headed for the hotel. Now as we sit at a café six hours later and several miles from the sea, we can still feel the boat rising and falling. We’ll probably still be rocking as we go to sleep tonight.
Stay tuned… weather permitting, we’ll be renting a scooter for the day tomorrow.
... really was. The beaches are like silk and the water is so warm you could bathe in it all day if it wasn't for all the salt. The only bad part is it still has a lot of bugs and fire ants which like to eat us plenty.
The atmosphere here is definitely more tourist like compared to everywhere else. It is more spread out and less congested. But overall it is the best experience of my life and I'm already ...
... of the island still has a lot of building work going on. There is a Tsunami memorial garden where we went to pay our respects... it was pretty emotional. On one of the more cloudy days we decided to venture up to Phi Phi view point.... a VERY steep 30 minute walk up various steps and slopes! Once we got to the top (very tired and sweaty!) the views were stunning... you could see for miles! Other than that we have had a pretty ...
Koh Phi Phi, Thailand kateandian... thunder storm blew in. Our only refuge was for all the customers to gather in the tiny kitchen. Made in a very rustic and basic way the kitchen resembled a small wooden shack about the size of a beach hut on Brighton beach! When the clouds burst the rain poured in through the make-shift tin roof. We did all we could to avoid the streams of water. All we could do was laugh. The thunder and lightning was right over head at one point. Mike was videoing it all when the lightning struck the ...
Phuket, Thailand m-and-cUrgh - not fun, not fun at all. Because Prachuap Khiri Khan was so lovely, I decided to spend an extra day there and get the night bus down to Phuket - this was a mistake. I thought it was great a couple of hours into the 10 hour journey, I had 2 seats to myself, a pillow and balnket and was just starting to get some sleep when the bus stopped and a man got on. Sat down opposite me and within approximately 30 seconds was fast ...
Phuket, Thailand dolly_would...... setting for 007 "The man with the golden gun". It was a really nice trip, but would have been even better if it wasn't for the 2 hour bus ride back. It looked like the bus collected tourists from all over Thailand and was dropping them all off on the way back. On the way to the bay we also visited the Monkey Cave temple and on the way back we stopped in a Muslim fishing village on stillts and had some local food on sticks. From Ao Nang we took ...

Ton sai, Thailand carlost... a couple of the numbers had rubbed off in the water. But its the effort that counts. After all that lesson stuff was out of the way, we got down to the business of enjoying our dive. And some dive it was. This was my first wall dive, where we were diving along a sheer rock wall. It is an incredible feeling to look UP the wall and see fish swimming above you and the sunlight filtering down. I couldn't tell whether I ...
