    ... most terrible way. He had a deep hatred of smart cars and though Los Angeles was the most ridiculous place in the world. He shouted at drivers on the freeway (that we were driving by, not even on) and spent a lot of the time talking to himself and answering questions he asked himself whilst referring to himself in third person.     Incredible to think that greater LA has a population of over 18 million, not that far short of our total population in Oz. It is a sprawling concrete mess and as I recall from 20 years ago, not much to look at.
