H had a conference on Emergency Medicine to attend so I tagged along to catch up on changes in Canberra and meet up with old friends from my days at ANU and cousin Hal and Glenda. I was amazingly lucky with the timing as firstly the autumn colours were outstanding, Saturday was the opening of the Museum of Democracy at Old Parliament House, and Sunday I happened across a wonderful concert at the NGA

... has immediately kicked in. My most since thanks to our wonderful house sitter Mark - our house was spotless and the dogs were contented and fat. They were overjoyed to see us after a moment when you could see them thinking - hmm is it really them? We have some food in the house after shopping his morning and I am working my way through a ton of washing while Graham starts on the gardens. <br><br>So some ...

Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia dionne07... I went to the Royal Australian Mint to try to see how coins are made, but the whole place was being refurbished so there was no tour available, and nothing to see besides a few coins. Then I went to a glass workshop which was interesting, but only for about 10 minutes. And I ended up waiting an hour for the bus, which made me too late to get to the other two things I wanted to do, so I basically ended up ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia cmukon... accumulate 130 points (our choice of which checkpoints) before going to TA2. Although we seemed to do pretty well with the orienteering, we were definitely one of the last to grab our bikes and start the single track, winding our way through the pink ribboned lined pine tree tracks.<br><br>At TA3 the team swapped their bikes for another topo map for the next rogaine leg. This involved visiting nine ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia vieve... drin...lecker!
Canberra, Australia joergen... anzuschauen. Schade ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia stefanieandalex... adorns giant metal plaques that cover the beautiful white sandstone blocks that make up the walls and columns of the memorial with the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier at the head of the area. Housed within the museum, which forms the back end of the complex, are fully restored, full-size submarines, fighter planes, tanks, helicopters and countless other war craft... and I'd be here all day trying to describe the individual war artefacts on display ...
Canberra, Australia mattersdorff... day, but worth it to see all that amazing countryside. Got in late, had a great Italian meal and then slept like logs. In Melbourne we explored the Victoria Market and bought supplies for a champagne picnic at the Zoo. In the St. Hilda's area we discovered a unique wine shop where they have nice wine, discounted because it bottles are only labeled with the type of wine and the region it is from. The tram ...
