Bournemouth has a very funny layout.. the two main streets of the town go up both sides of the hills that lead down to the park and eventually to the famous Pier.
I was a bit down in the dumps this day.. I think because I was watching all the families and couples having some fun. It was mid term break so there were heaps of kids around and the entrance to the Pier was packed with amusements and ...
... a lot to see when your on them.
So we decided on a next stop as Lyme Regis on the South Coast to break up our journey back to London. It's a nice place at the start of the Jurassic Coast which we did not have time to explore. Kim impressively went for a morning run even though it was rainy and windy and I stayed tucked up in bed!
... the train station, Hannah got questioned about her age, because she is so tall everyone thinks she is older than 15! On the way Jane had texted us to say that there had been a mix up with the caravan and we would be staying in a tent! Hannah was horrified.. so was I.. its still a bit chilly in the evenings!! lol
But all was good, our tent turned out to be a very large caravan.. more like a permanent van, three bedrooms and I think slept ...
... a smashing roast at the White Lion Carvery in Crewkerne.
Sad to leave this morning, Art went off to work in Bridport at about 8.30 am and we were so imersed in chatting with Thurza that we didn' get away til 11.45 am.
Arrived at Wayne & Julia Stonehams new pad at about 3.30 pm after stopping for lunch.
Hoping to catch the England v Croatia World Cup qualifier in about half an hour live on ITV!!
... a mess, kit soaked, maybee was a mess, i made my way to the HB paid my due's for at least 2 nights, and then popped into the coast guard, to let them know of the dinghy so as not to get a false call out, they told me there guy on st albans had registered my dificulties and was about to send out help when I cleared the eddies,so after getting new phone, am in weymouth for sunday lunch, having spent saturday doing laundry, fetching water and provisions ...
Weymouth, England, United Kingdom c.t.oakley... although two of my colleagues had made a double decker bus from some boxes, a great effort. I think most enjoyed themselves and the bar certainly earned a fair bit as people drank their way through some fairly horrific concoctions of drinks. The final total, once it's all collected in, the last of the t-shirts have been sold, etc, should be over £400. The alcohol raffle was, once again, a great little earner. i think we'll be having a few more ...

Since that visit we have always dreamed that we would one day return, hopefully more able to avail ourselves of the different forms of transport. During those years a chap came into my little shop and chatted about having lived in Switzerland and about what we had missed! He invited me to borrow his videos showing the Swiss Railways systems in all their glory. From then on we were compelled one day to go back !
So this is the travelog of our return to Switzerland ...
... and return via
Netherlands. Unfortunately the Grimsel and Furka, even in mid June were
both still blocked by snow and we had to detour to Montigny and thence
over the St Bernard Pass and down to Aolta.
Of that whole journey, which I will one day, if time permits relate to you, we were
most impressed by Switzerland. At the time it was the most expensive
place in Europe ...
... my element! Then I was nearly home (in Hammersmith) but had no lift, so its one of the captain who drove me home. Quite great. It was a relaxing evening altogether then. I had a day off tomorrow. ----------------- May 19 Day off, full of relaxing thread and grocery shopping. ---------------- May 20 Back on the ship in Poole, on a Sunday. There is no public transport and Davina never showed up to pick me nor answered my previous sms to tell if they were going to ...
