Adelaide is the Capital of the state of South Australia. It is nicely laid out grid -style, but with many green spaces. We spent a good bit of time at the Museum of South Australia, mostly learning about aboriginal history and culture, which is fascinating.
The Central Market was a fun place to visit, and a feast for the eyes and palate--lots of produce, butcher shops, seafood markets, delis, and all types of stores.
Today we had a full day touring the Barossa Valley and wine ...
Woke up to sunshine and a better morning. The lady at the motel reception said it had rained overnight but we hadn't heard it. Had a quick look at Robe before we left.
Again this is a day of driving, which we share today. The first part, till lunchtime at Meningie, was rather boring, mile after mile of bush lined road, which even with a 110 km speed seemed to go on for ever. Had we known this we might have chosen the inland road yesterday and missed Robe, but hindsight is a great thin...
Adelaide is a laid back city but full of surprises. The world renown wineries are everywhere.

... recurring theme, again a sandwich was snatched by a wild bird - this time a kookaburra, who dived down from above and then sat for pictures for the tourists.

This was a great opportunity for the kids to get more of a taste of the aborioginal culture, which due to our mostly urban locations, they hadn't seen as much of as we'd have liked. We saw rock paintings some 30,000 years old and they also went to a cultural centre and decorated boomerangs with dot paintings ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia geofflove... are supposed to buy their ****** overpriced ramen noodles. Of course I had to argue with the girl because I was already ****** about my experience yesterday and I told her the food was going with me since I had just paid $22 for it. She told me, "You can't bring it because you are depriving Tiger of revenue and also depriving the cabin crew of their commisions." Now please help me to understand this...if I never ever in my wildest dreams had any ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia atlpilot36Rode back into Adelaide from Horsham today. It was actually raining when I left, so I put on my rain pants for the first time in the whole trip. The main highway here is fast and smooth, but a bit boring. Not too much traffic, in and out of showers most of the morning.

Stopped for morning tea in Keith after crossing the border into South Australia again. Quite windy, about 35-50 km/h headwind most of the way, but thankfully still ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia rspear... insert native aboriginal group name here) are the traditional custodians of this lands and we support any efforts to reconcile with them." That is not verbatim, but that's the general idea. It is also neat to see all kinds of aboriginal artwork all over the place. But I have not quite figured out what the general situation is and attitudes towards the aborigines ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia cmukon... but we still checked out the festival and had a great Thai meal. Adelaide has loads of restaurants, bars and cafes, so we are spoilt for choice. Yesterday, we got up ready to explore the city and the sights only to find that now it was raining hard and it was bloody cold, 19c! When having our breakfast on the balcony, the motel owner turned up, looked at us and went; "brrrr, cold isn't it, we got the Melbourne weather". OK, we have just driven 1600km from ...
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia lctd... to the backpack**s who had lucked out on finding accommodation in one town and was walking to the next one, he had been walking most of the day. I told him he should have got the bus or hired a car but he was saving the cash, the irony wasn't lost when he told us that his name was Renault. We dropped him in Port Campbell, wh**e we ov** nighted at a friendly, clean hostel (Port Campbell backpack**s), refueling our bellies for our next stage, heading up ...
Adelaide, Victoria, Australia jamesandjulie... Ha.....HA HA HA HA!! Of course, I just played along and fed them loads of bull about English tactics and my encyclopedia of football knowledge! They must have been impressed because they kept buying me pints (and I didn't have to buy any back) - Grand!! One of the guys then gave me his Adelaide United scarf (got my bit of memorabilia - yay), and said that I had to put it up in my local bar back in England! OK - whatever dude! We will see. Got to say, they were all battered ...
