Today was a scorcher, a top of 18 degrees so we decided to
head to the beach. Brighton beach is a train ride away and the only place to go
on a nice warm day. We walked to the beach and we were met with stones instead

We stride off to Whitehall to watch the changing of the Horse Guard, then wander over to Buckingham palace to give Liz and Phil a friendly Cooee from the front gate. They didn't wave back, but we did see someone turn off the lights in a second floor room. Guess they knew that some Australians were in town and didn't want to appear to be at home.

And so, eventually we landed in Gatwick and stepped right into the 1960s. I had never been to Gatwick airport and so was previously unaware of the existence of a time portal which forced the main terminal to stay in 1965. After our virtually perfect European train experiences, our train into London was delayed for half an hour due to a signal failure north of Croydon, which was of little surprise to someone used to the British rail network. ...

Reasonably well-dressed individuals who appeared to have jobs and seemed otherwise normal, approached us randomly on the street asking for change (I noticed that they ignored the 50 or so Kenyans that they came across on their way to approach us for money). Apparently this is the price of not looking like an African (the mzungu curse). ...
... ve seen so much it's hard list our favourites. The only places we didn't enjoy that much were Phuket, Thailand and Bali, Indonesia, unfortunately for us we stayed in the 'party areas' it seems, it's fine for a holiday but it wasn't really what we were after and we aren't sure why people rave about the beauty of Bali as all the Thai islands were much nicer, it could be we visited the wrong part but not enjoying ...
