10am and we are off to Durham to see my dearest sister. It's a beautiful day to drive the 300 odd miles. I couldn't believe how many different sets are roadworks there are..with 40 & 50 mph limits its slowing us down! We saw two red kites over Oxford, and just after Doncaster there were six windmills. In France you see them in blocks of ten or more. Why is everything in the service stations so much more expensive? In the Road chef, at Tibshelf North, we had ...

Had a good flight, good landing, fast through passport control, luggage arrived quickly, met with car by Emma's parents, got down to Southampton quickly in time for 9am ferry - it's Cowes week so ferries are very busy - told to wait until 11am! Anyway eventually they must have taken pity on us and we got on 10am - thank you Red Funnel! Happy ...

We went to ...

Cape Verde is a group of volcanic islands about 400 miles west off the coast of Africa. There are 9 main islands, five of which form the group known as the Windward, while the other 4 are known as the Leeward Islands. Almost 400,000 people live on a land area of just over 1,500 square miles and although the capital is Praia on the island of St Tiago, the international port with a deep water Harbour formed from a volcanic crater is Mindelo on St Vincent The islands ...

... walking. We made our way back to the hotel in the cool sea breeze, and headed straight for the little pub in the hotel for another pint. It was nice sitting in a big comfortable arm chair enjoying a beer. Check for messages and emails, have a few laughs and then back to our little room for a well deserved sleep. Now, here we are on a swaying train on our way to London. The houses on the way in the little towns are just like ...
