... at the very same pub we'd gone to on the day of my arrival. Only this time we were celebrating Vic's birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIC (...for a few days ago) with a few of their friends - followed by drinks with Dapper Dan Lewsley who always makes it a pleasure to be in his company.

Presentation went well
... John Dixon, Leslie Stratta, Protherough, Barnes et al - all of their work in English in the 60s and 70s - it is as if it never happened. The very issues that Dixon was seeking to address/redress in the Growth model are even more pronounced here now. It is such a stratified system, so obsessed with testing and teaching to the test, and so narrow in its conceptualisation of English - 'reading and writing' - no media, multimedia, very little creating/composing...

Te Hono ki Aotearoa cruising up the Thames
