Welcome to Kansas! I think this is my 16th stop so far, and will be brief one on the way to Denver tomorrow! With a nine-hour drive ahead of us, Zach and I woke up early in Houston and packed up our stuff. Our stay with my high school classmate, Tacy, and her boyfriend, Dom, was amazing and they made it very difficult to want to leave. ... we have seen after the Atomic Bombs fell near the end of WWII. Today, it is still obvious that something terrible has happened. There are houses that are being built but there are very few trees (the big ones that we saw three years ago had had all of their leaves and bark stripped off leaving a ghostly outline of what used to be there) and no other vegetation and only scattered residences.

From there we drove for a short distance on a piece ...

We rode out of Lyons this morning in nice weather. The winds were building but it was on our side most of the way. We rode through a nice small college town in Sterling and on through Nickerson , Buhler and in to Hesston. At Hesston we had ...
