Off to Manchester after supper to be next to the airport for the early morning flight! Need to check in at 6.40 am (sigh)... But very excited to get on the way! Hoping for an upgrade due to it being my birthday (10th feb), however, will be very surprised if i get one! Fingers crossed. Etihad flight to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi ...

Today we went to Castleton and Eyam.

Drove to Castleton first where there are heaps of deep and mysterious caves and caverns.

The boys went in one while Di and I stayed topside and mooched around with the pooches.

Had a nice lunch then drove to Eyam - a village famous for isolating themselves from the world in 1665 to stop the plague infecting the rest ...

... revoir with a veg box.

Next to arrive for a week was Val's Dad Gordon who had just been awarded the Empire Medal in the Queens birthday Honours list. We all celebrated with a barbeque at Jen and Kev's even though the clouds kept looming and threatening, 'singing' the flight of the Valkyrie succeeded in keeping the rain at bay. A drop in temperature meant pudding and some superlative cognac in the kitchen at the end of the meal, the rain didn't fall.

... for our last meal together. The meal was good. It was set out in a smorgasbord type way, and you could choose what items and proportions you wanted. I had the salad and bread for the appetizer, followed by some type of noodles. In addition I had a large selection of fruit, and finished it up with a cup of tea.
