Peaceful Party

A travel blog entry by ashlyn_rebekah on Oct 02, 2014

It was an early morning this morning, walking down to the pier to find our 7.10am Amtrak bus. We took the bus to the Emeryville, and then boarded an Amtrak train to Sacramento, followed by another bus to the area of South Lake Tahoe. Fun fact about Lake Tahoe - it's basically split down the middle via the state lanes of California and Nevada (we …

We decided to go to Tahoe using a Worldmark deal. We stayed the night in El Dorado with Robin on December 29th to help break up the drive. We left bright and early to drop JT off at Heavenly daycare and we went boarding. Well we happened to go on a day where it's Tahoes coldest and windiest. We only did a few runs because only 2 lifts were opened, Stagecoach and comet. The visibility was so bad and he wind was worse. When there was a gust of wind, it was impossible to see. It ...

19 miles to Hamp William's Pass (596.5)

Day 44 - 5/20/2014
20.5 miles to Butterbredt Canyon (617)

We had 40s and wintery mix all day today. Yea! We can see about 40 miles north of us (where we are heading) and it looks like it is getting snow or ice. If Kennedy Meadows ...

Four states in a day

... a fierce war was fought between the Modoc tribe and the US Army, the former being forced to live elsewhere. We carried on south, leaving Oregon and entering California and into more typical Americana. The landscape cried out for a cowboy or two, herding castle across the plain; tumbleweed blew across the highway; and I was thrilled to spot the sheriff of Lassen County, on the lookout for any ...

Jalen's 1st trip to Tahoe- Worst trip

Jalen's 1st trip to tahoe was horrible. We went through a timeshare offer and the resort was so bad we left 1 day early! We saw our presentation which was horrible experience and checked out early. The room was small, dingy and so outdated. No AC as well and it was hot. We went to the Lake which was nice and Jalen dipped his feet in for the 1st time. He wasn't a fan because it was too cold. ...
