It is at altitude so when we went for a walk Sunday morning you lost your breath very easily.

We walked along the beach front and in the pines, then travelled by car to Emerald Bay for spectacular views.

California is one place that I want to explore in fine detail. It is so different from the rest of the US, and I really, truly love it here.

For the next 1,640 miles of trail for better or for worse I would never be that high again. With the lowering elevation I can only hope for the snow patches to disappear as well.

The last few days have been difficult mentally and ...

... We stopped for lunch at a well-stocked shop in Adin (population 276), full of stuffed animals and some tacky souvenirs. Why didn't I buy the John Wayne shot glasses? Given the sat nav wasn't working and we were relying on my iPad for music I planned to stop at Reno Airport and get the car sorted. At the Alamo desk Shawnese was the first example of bad service in the US. Totally unsympathetic (we could ...

... are getting better prices than anywhere else, simply because people walk in after having a great time at Heavenly and want to buy their own piece of Heaven. Damn it. Oh well...

Its been one day and I'm still downloading the Lakers vs Bobcats game. The "hi-speed" internet sucks here - its so low speed and we don't even have the option to up the speed. It even cuts off randomly.

          Ollie out.
