... We were headed for the ancient ruins of Thira. We couldn't get in because it closes at 2.30pm each day and we were half an hour past that time. It looked worthy of another visit so we decided to come back the next day.

There are simple ways of getting to Oia (or Ia as it is also know and how you pronounce it), such as bus, taxi or hire car. But who needs simple? I had read as part of my research about the wonderful walk between Fira and Oia and I thought we'd give it a try. Loading up the backpack with some supplies (but forgetting water of all things) we set off through the town of Fira which seamlessly turns into Firostafani. The Aroma Suites is one of the few accommodation establishments in Fira to stay open over the winter and good on Thanes for being a bit enterprising because as far as I can tell it is paying off – there are at least 4 other groups staying here at the ...

Then I tried to kill them every time I felt one but that proved to be futile as well because I realized there was a gazillion of those little black, sand fly jerks and only one big, tasty me. I lasted about 25 mins. So I decided to get some water and cereal for breakfast from a local grocery store and read by the pool at my hostel. Tonight's going to be pretty low key because it's still in the slow season here, which I'm really enjoying.

... a lot of fun to watch and most entertaining when the chick perched on her rock sunbathing was continually distracted with the hooks and bobbers were flying over her head when the boys were casting out their bait! It was hysterical to watch this girl try to hide and she looked totally disgusted, and was searching for her boyfriend who had dumped her there to "relax". So much for a nap for her. After lunch, we finally get to see the hotel room. Hotel Keti is the best hotel throughout our honeymoon! Best value for money and best view from the room!

And when we finally climb up to the top. We see this. This must be the archaeologists' toilet. I'm guessing it must be the toilet with the greatest view in all of Greece! Hahaha...
