    ... a place in a time warp - an early western era place with creaky floorboards dating back to the 1800s. Plenty of character and comfortable beds but there was more water coming from the tap gland than the showerhead itself. But all a great experience!

    Dinner was in a place called the Handlebar Restaurant just around the corner to the hotel - a very characterful place with beer served in jugs.

    ... they were on the way. By the time the Feds got there there was no sign of booze anywhere and all the towns people seemed like normal law abiding citizens. The Feds knew that they'd been had, but decided it would be impossible to catch them at what they knew was going one. So they never went back and Silverton went back to being Silverton.     ... are not wide enough to pass so you have to pull off and take turns. The person going up has the right away. It was literally uphill all the way to Animas Fork. Animas Fork was a gold mining town and at one time had several hundred people there. Now, keep in mind it is 22 miles out of Silverton and uphill all the way.
