Tracking east on highway 41 we drove through the Everglades, stopping at an Indian village for lunch - deep fried alligator was on the menu. Tip - it tastes like tough chicken.
Onwards through a terrific rainstorm we entered the Florida Keys - a chain of islands stretching in an arc southwest from the bottom of the mainland. There are 42 bridges forming the Overseas Highway which tomorrow will take us down to Key West.
We got lucky with the weather... It was supposed to rain a lot but so far, it has been pretty nice. We stayed in St. Petersburg for a night and are enjoying some beach/pool time in Naples.
It's pretty hot and humid here and we decided to rent a cabin for a few nights... sleeping in the tent is not really a treat :)
... a little. The windshield wiper swished back and forth like a perfectly timed metronome. Not too slow to where the rain built up and blocked the view, but not so fast where the wipers dried out the screen too much where the eroding rubber would wear in the half moon grooves that never went away.
