    ... Clearly beginners. First they went for the bank straight on. A boy was at the stern and, as this was sticking out into the river he had to make a huge leap onto the bank holding the rope. He nearly missed! Then father hopped of the bow (which was close to the bank) handed the rope to grandad who got tangled, fell over and nearly rolled in between the boat and the bank.     ... under Ludham Bridge was smooth. Jane's boat handling is excellent. We turned right into the River Bure towards Wroxham. The river is wide and both children had further goes at steering the boat. Marcus is very good, too, but Amy needed a lot of guidance.

    We got up the normal time and had breakfast. I packed and Jane did all the important things like ironing and washing up the last few plates.
