Day 6 St Lucia to Drakensberg

Monday 8 September we departed 7.30am and headed towards the Drakensberg Mountains via the East Coast, travelling through Durban, the second largest city in South Africa with three million people. Drove the Dakaneni Loop, good bush habitat for black rhino and elephant. However ...

Unfortunately they were so far from the road that we couldn't get a photo of them After that we decided it was time to head home to ...

... to sleep. Finally we have seen lions and ticked off the last of the big 5. Later on in the day we came across some lions mating. It was quite the spectacle. She lays down and he jumps on board, then he growls a bit and gets off. She walks away a little and he plonks down for a rest. They walk further on and repeat, again and again. We also came upon some elephant who stopped traffic, no one was willing to drive by them as they were pretty amped ...
