It was, indeed, the first time that I truly felt alive, because I felt a part of something much bigger than me. Compel is an interesting word to use, because it almost seems as though it is outside my control, as though the fates have some hand in my existence.

... lovely town, although trying to find some food at about 2.30pm on a Sunday wasn't easy. There were a lot of shops open in the town but the cafe and pub we initially chose didn't have food available at that time, so the more ordinary Cafe Nero turned out fine. I am pretty sure I said this on the way out, but they should ban feckin' wheeled cases as carry-on luggage! *humbug* The Newcastle flight was full, and most of the overheads ...

... to the only pub where we will have dinner, and had a half pint. While there, the Melbourne quartet rolled in! We are all old friends now. They are staying in a place a bit further on tonight, but looking at our schedules we coincide at the same place on Wednesday which will be good, and a farewell. After that we are different, and we actually arrive at Robin Hood's Bay a day ahead of them, after a long last day's walk. I had thought it was the other way round. We are ...
