We also saw the USS Drum SS 228 submarine today. It is on the same site as the USS Alabama and it is cool to get on a sub. The USS Drum SS 228 sank 15 Japanese ships during it's service. The sub is 311 ft long, 27 feet wide and could stay submerged for 24 hours at 2 knots. It had a crew of 72 men and carried 94,400 gallons of diesel. Boy, I could use some of that fuel on this ...

About 2:15 we drove out of Biloxi back toward Mobile to visit the Mobile Carnival Museum. According to Mobile, Mardi Gras actually started in Mobile dating from 1703, not New Orleans.
