The Balmoral Hotel Moffat

Well I was all set to leave, my brother arrived to pick me up and told me that my father had passed away that morning. Devastating news. Rang Real Gap straight away and they were really good about everything. Have postponed trip until after the funeral which is this Friday.

Will update when I have details of my flights and my new itinerary.

Think I've packed up everything in the house now, feels weird without the cats being here. I think that's one of the toughest things I've ever had to do. I hope they go to a good home....

Sold the car and rented out the flat and packed my life into a box. Strange feeling.

It's the start of a new chapter ...

... by an hour and it all went by in a bit of a blur.

I found the bus stop to take me to my hotel and froze in my mules as I hadn't wanted to carry a pair of boots just for transit at either end - but I was in good company as some people had decided to dispense with their coats too and were chattering. I checked in and got to bed ready for a 630 start.

The joining instructions said check in 3 hours early - who does that? People in ...

... up (a little nap later)... slightly tainted by my reflection in the window... I think it makes it looks a bit cool though! Pretty much the whole of my time was spent in the hotel, so no comment on Peebles itself unfortunately. Good conference though...

... and Glenn has left 2 men's fat pants he outgrew! I decided to keep some of the Tshirts I had thought I would leave here. There are 14 more days for me to shop and I am hoping we have enough room to bring things back from Wales and England. You will be happy to hear most things coming back are gifts! Although I have bought a few things for home.

We are having fun and enjoying every minute of our time away from home.

... of the road north. However, it wasn't the end of the trip. It just meant we had to go south now.

So with a quick stop off in Gretna Green (home of quick weddings) we passed over the stunning Yorkshire Dales, which were full of two different types of person: Motorcyclists and Gypsys. The former come to the Dales for a hoon on the roads, the dangers of which we saw first hand ...

... weather cleared up but then became threatening again with tornado warnings in two nearby counties. We had a walk to a nearby restaurant and a good meal but the shrimp and grits was not as good as in Charleston. 5-8-09 Morehead City to Oriental The following morning Dave had to drop some urgent mail off at the post office and then we had a good breakfast at a local café/deli. A walk around the town and waterfront showed that Morehead City actually has more going for it ...

It is pity that we have to leave so soon !!
We are on our way back to Glasgow....many of the
travellers have already fallen asleep because
of the long day trip, and the beer of course.

(But not me)..... I don't want to miss anything.

I am however anxious for the next destination to
Ireland in a couple of days!!!
