... night on the houseboat, we went back to the land and checked into the Dar Es Salaam hotel.

We stayed at the Dar Es Salaam hotel for two nights. One day, we visited a few artisans in their homes. First, we visited a carpet weaver in his small workshop. He was currently working on a carpet with a very intricate design. Next, we went to the pashmina weaver’s house and he showed us some of the pashminas that ...

Probably the only time they move is when they need to be towed to get some maintenance. Most of the houseboats have satellite dishes on them, so they cannot move at all to keep a signal.

... that we started asking for the "nearest guesthouse". Well, we eventually found one - it was about 1/2 km off the road - we has to drive right through the pastures to get there - no road, no path to the guesthouse. Crazy. Glad we were riding Enfields.

This "guesthouse" is run by a family, and I don't think they have many guests. It was "all hands on deck" when we ...

... The stewards tried to calm them down without success until the pilot announced that we were turning back and security will remove the passengers involved. Immediately there was silence and they all took their seats. When we got back to base a number of security men boarded and took two men away for a while, but they returned. The pilot announced that the men promised to behave and they were part of a family group of 17. Although they deserved to be taken off the ...
