... I just can't bring myself to do – except for sandwiches, so I didn’t eat there.

At the next place, I saw a guy making some tasty looking pancake-type things - with an egg on top. That looked perfect, until the cook smeared the egg around the top of the pancake with his (dirty) hand. Oh well - another option eliminated.
