I admit it. I tend to plan. I find a good plan is comforting. It's nice to know where I need to be, when, and what I'm supposed to do.

Friends tell me I tend to overdo it and might want to consider at least occasionally going without a plan. They might have a point. I plan to do that.

... 101 to visit Victorian Ferndale. A lovely town, well worth the 10mile detour and as one guy said it should be in a movie. Unfortunately there were roadworks in the Main Street. We went into an Emporium that looked and smelt old! It had lots of artefacts lying around but no photos were allowed. A friendly place - farming area. ... road. That part of the city is mostly residential. I loved the Victorian style homes along the streets with a cafe or small mom and pop grocery store on the corner.

After slowly going back down Lombard Street, it was off to Fisherman's Wharf. The Wharf is very touristy, but had great views of Alcatraz and the harbor. I loved the old fishing boats in port. We bypassed all the local, trendy restaurants and walked to an out of the way restaurant called Scomas. AWESOME! ...

... of the year for wildflower viewing. Checked out the hostel, seems fine, maybe next time if we want a bit luxury. Though much more prefer our camp ground. ... stuff up haphazardly. His methodical process and my slowness, combined with lots of breaks for me, means it is going very slowly.
