... gardens a lot of the way. We moored just past Sandiacre on the Monday and just past Cotmanhay on Tuesday. Arrived at the end of navigation, Langley Lock in Eastwood, and moored on the visitor mooring in the basin. The manager of the basin came and introduced himself and seemed a very friendly, helpful person. We plan to stay overnight and make our way back down the Erewash tomorrow.

Wednesday 3rd - Birstall
If you're reading this Rod, yes, the stretch of river heading north out of Leicester was a bit dreary in parts but was very soon erased from our memory upon our arrival at Thurmaston Lock when we discovered Watermead Country Park.
Sitting just five miles north of Leicester, Watermead Country Park is a 140 hectare green oasis. It is a haven for wildlife and a peaceful stretch of countryside.
... that has a facade and some external walls, however much of the rooms are dug into the sandstone hill that Nottingham Castle is built upon. It is a fantastic little tavern.

... dinner we headed into a pub that was having Christmas carols but it was so busy and the carols were on break for 45mins so we headed home. The couple didn't sell Nottingham to us, making us think that we had made a mistake in booking for so long. Wednesday (18th) we headed into the city to meet up with Col Hoad's friend, Chris for coffee. He gave us an awesome tour of the town centre, filling us in on the town history and along the canal.
