... she stopped about 3 metres from us - our hearts were racing! I'm sure she could have easily turned our jeep if she'd wanted to. I guess she simply didn't want to be watched any more by us?? But our driver must have understood her behaviour and knew not to run. The elephant calmed down and continued around to the other side of the watering hole to where a male peacock was strutting. So the two of them hung out together and we moved on. Scary ...

... a different way to before and ended up with lovely views along Ella gap - the valley gap between the two sets of hills. It was about 4pm by the time we arrived back. Just over 5 hours of walking. Wow. After a couple of hours of rest, we walked back down to town - only 20minutes on the way down and had a bit more of a wander around. I wasn't too hungry, so just had some lime pancakes for dinner!!! So good. And a tuk tuk back - didn't want to walk back in the dark. Early bed ...

... we headed back to our seats - despite the drivers protest that we could stay longer! It was now getting dark and the sun setting behind all the tea covered mountains. So the last hour of the journey was in darkness. And it was cold. We finally arrived into Ella station at 7pm. 2 hours late. ... heavens Edge) is breathtaking but unfortunately the pool is out if order. We were duly informed before we arrive so weren't too disappointed but it would have been a gorgeous view from the pool.
