Couldn't get into the Sheraton where we stayed previously but this is just across the road and really good. Rooms not as big but comfortable.

We booked this through and expected a lot from the description (that kept the hotel's name secret). It turned out, we could have booked this hotel pretty much on any other site against the same conditions. Had we done so, we would have discovered that parking costs USD40 per night. Parking is expensive in SF, but USD40 with a room rate below USD100 felt a little out of kilter. The room itself was good, nicely furnished with good materials. Location is also convenient and staff is friendly. Nothing spectacular, just good middle of the road hotel.

This morning 4th Nov we flew up to San Francisco arriving mid afternoon at our Hotel at Fishermans Wharf. Unpacked our few bits and pieces and then out for a nosy around Pier 39. Had a few drinks and a meal, then booked our excursions for the next couple of days. Now for some sleep. Awoke to another sunny day and not a fog bank in sight, which …

We met Ben & Virginia at 10:00 am at the intersection of Del Monte Road and Highway 1 North. However, while waiting for them I discovered that I had no headlights. I didn't panic because they wouldn't be needed since we would be riding in …

Departed Gc airport at 9:45am bound for Auckland, 5hr stopover before heading to San Fransisco. Arrived at 12:45pm local time. Caught shuttle to our hotel - Best Western Tuscan Plus (shuttle cost $34 US). Checked in then headed straight to Boudin Bakery for the famous clam chowder in sourdough bowl. Chay had clam, Lauren has rustic tomato. Was nice …
