I love a place with history. If I recall correctly this place was built in 1909. Priceline made it an amazing deal. We asked for a quiet room and when we got to our room we were taken back by it's great size and big four poster beds. They shower fixtures came off while I was trying to use them and there was very low water pressure. I hate complaining about things but called the desk and explained the situation and they asked if I'd like to change rooms. The bellman came up with new keys and helped us move to a new room which was even quieter and bigger...had two bathrooms. Yes, the woodwork may have some dings and old tile in the bathroom might be in need of some work, but I loved it.

          Shopping ... unsuccessfully

A travel blog entry by jason934 on Oct 08, 2015

Our only activity today was an attempt to get the suitcases fuller before we head home in three weeks. We went to many stores over 6 hours and didn't get much at all, despite trying on lots of clothes. The day was pretty warm but it got overcast so the day was comfortable despite being in the late 80s. For lunch we had Taco Bell and for dinner we had ...

They really stressed the importance of not touching the walls, ceilings or formations, pointing out that doing so was a third degree felony. Apparently the oils and dirt in human hands can impact the caves, and we could see evidence of that when comparing the first caves that had bats through them 4,000 years ago with the caves that were sealed off ...

... expected to see, but still lots of green and shrubbery. There are fewer trees now and some small cacti are appearing. We rolled into Schertz a little early to check in so we topped at the outlet malls for a couple of hours. The weather is quite warm here, early 30s. For dinner we went next door to Denny's then looked around the local Walmart. There are lots of black birds with cool eyes that make a real racket ...

I was unable to use the motels phone, but when I tried mine I didn't have enough credit to make the call. I had to work out how to add credit to my phone, then go through more rigmarole to change the reservation as it was less than 24 hours until the booking. Lucky I am a 'silver rewards member' for booking ...

It's been so great to see so many historical sites along the way, and we are not done yet! Stay tuned...
